Here at IUWETALK, we firmly believe that we should take the time to honor people that are special in our lives. Whether they are still here sharing their blessings or if their home is now with the Creator. So we don't feel the need to wait until some special holiday to acknowledge them for the treasures they leave in our hearts.

Farewell Alicia
It was morning.
The day began with an unfamiliar silence.
Somehow things felt out of place.
During the night, as you lay peacefully sleeping
the Father whispered to you, "Come to me".
And in that instant all your pain was gone.
Yet our hearts were left broken.
You fought your battle so bravely for such a long time.
Each night we prayed that we would have you just one more "one more day".
Tears fell and we held on to each other
just as we instinctively did when Mama went away.
We're the children of the Pride.
Our strength has always been our unity.
And now we feel so deeply wounded and vulnerable.
Once again looking to the heavens
searching for the un-explainable answer to the question
Why?
It was morning.
And the new day showered on us rays of sunlight
too beautiful to describe with words.
It was like God had just experienced a sweet new flavor
and could not contain his joy.
It was then we realized our precious Alicia had made it home.
Because everyone that has shared the warmth of your love
knows that you bring a little sunshine wherever you go.
So we try to find comfort knowing that you are safe in the Creator's hands.
And now our parents
And our parent's parents
And all who came before us just so we could be
will now have with them your soul to share all the joys you bring
All those treasures you shared that we will miss so dearly
We promise everyday that your child will know how much she is loved.
Because with you she has never known a day without love.
Her friends will be our companions.
And those who may seek to do her harm
will quickly discover that she has an army of loved ones
fiercely devoted to protecting her with an un-relenting ferocity.
We'll try to teach her the things you taught us
like a kind word can uplift anyone's down spirit
and a smile can speak a thousand kind words.
We'll laugh and share with her your childhood memories
Telling her how you hid your vegetables behind the radiator
and bumped your head against your pillow
in rhythm with your birth partner trying to put yourself to sleep.
And in her smile, we'll see remnants of you.
Remembering how infectious your laughter could be
And we will feel the love you left in each of us
A love of which this family is built
A love with no boundaries
Your man, the soul mate you loved so dearly.
The one who shared all your joys and suffered with you through all of your pains
We will continue to embrace him as our brother
He's earned all the love and respect that he's gained.
No time did he ever consider not standing by your side.
So we'll never let him feel alone.
In our hearts, he will always have a home.
We will honor you by giving him the same type of love, loyalty and commitment
he has always given to you

Your eyes closed in this world for the final time.
Today you awaken in paradise.
Surrendering to God your soul.

and the two miracles this family was blessed with on that day
We thank him for granting us thirty 36 years with your physical presence
We pray that your spirit lives in us for eternity.

On October 3, 2001, Alicia Diann Dees lost her six year battle with breast cancer. She touched the lives of so many people while she was here. She taught us the true meaning of strength, love, and faith as she continued to be positive and loving to everyone she encountered through her difficult times. The beauty of her spirit is what inspired us to put together this section. Our prayers go out to all the people who have lost someone to this illness as well as those persons continuing to live on with breast cancer and all the people that love and support them.
I hope that I am everything you raised me to be...
for I now realize that I am your Living Legacy!
The best in me was provided by a part from each one of you;
brought together to uniquely produce the perfect culmination of you two.
You truly deserve all honor that's given and bestowed upon you;
to faithfully continue the mission is what I've been left here to do.
It is my sincere wish to do more than just make you proud of me,
for you've given me much more than the simple naked eye can see.
Supplied with lots of love and creativity right from the start...
I am your blueprint in the working... a carbon copy of your heart!
I must do the things that each of you never had a chance to do;
I draw my strength, courage and wisdom from fond memories of you.
If I can manage to be half as much a human being as either one of you,
this alone would be an accomplishment that not many folks could do!
Your hopes, dreams and wishes will ultimately become a reality;
and as my parents your hearts and souls will live on continuously.
May your visions and spirits' stay alive and vibrant through me...

Would you like to hear about the serious tragedy,
Suffered by I my father and his wife,
It was the Lords strategic strategy
Of taking a beautiful life
She was born with a serious sickness
That took her life apart
Though it didn't affect her prettiness
It still failed her heart
She died on an unexpected day
That soon became a strife
It was when she died, and then we prayed
That it wouldn't change our life
But I'm forgiving to that and to THEE
For the incident that shattered my loved ones and me.

My Tribute to Howard Smith

He saved my life in Jamaica fully dressed
And when I play with my toys he helps me clean up the mess
He was there for my when my dad couldn't be
And his son is on the way but he still takes care of me
When I'm in trouble he always takes the fault
That's' a reason why he's such a big part in my heart
Who is this wonderful person I speak of
The one and only Howard that I cherish and love
Not only has he been a father he's been much more
He's been a person that me and my friends adore
I don't want to bring my birth father into this
But compared to Howard he has 3 more things on his list
So when people ask me what is Howard like?
I say, He's the best father you could have in your life.
There are so many things to say about him
I predicted it would take 5 minutes
but I guess now it will take 10
Even though my father is not here for me
Compared to my friends I'm really lucky
Because of the fact that I've had Howard from the start
And he's willing to take my father's part
With no complaints or uncontrollable anger
So now it time to thank him for the favor
I have nothing more to say but see ya later
Don't for get I love you with all my heart
I won't stop till our time is up
